KOLLAM: A two-and-a-half-year-old girl died of snake bite while playing with her grandfather in front of her house. She has been identified as Neelambari, daughter of Ratheesh and Aarcha of Kottarakkara. The incident happened while she was playing with her mother's father Sreejayan in front of their house at 8 pm last night.

Sreejayan's attention changed when a call came for him. When he turned back, he saw a snake crawling into a hole adjacent to the wall. After seeing the bite marks on her leg, she was rushed to Kottarakkara taluk hospital first and then to Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital. However, her life could not be saved.

Her father Ratheesh is an employee of a restaurant. She will be cremated in the premises of their house later today after post mortem. A case has been registered by the Kottarakkara police.
