vaccine

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Kerala will be able to achieve social resistance within three to four months if it receives the required quantity of vaccine from the central government. Speaking during the press conference, he said that the state government aims to achieve social immunity by vaccinating as many people as possible in the state.

The state has been able to deliver the vaccines quickly and systematically as per the availability of the vaccines. As of June 29, 40 percent of the population had been given the first dose and 12 percent had been given the second dose, the CM said at a press conference.

"The Centre had said that 25 percent of the vaccine would be distributed through private hospitals. However, private hospitals in the state have not received the vaccine from the centre. They currently purchase vaccines through other agencies and distribute them to the people. In this way, we can achieve the goal of social resistance only if the current crisis in the availability of vaccines across the country is resolved," the CM said.
