KOCHI: After reading a report published on Kerala Kaumudi about Thampi, who goes to work on his grandson's bicycle, Muthukulam native Santhosh Kumar visited Thampi at his house in Kumbalangi Road, Kochi. The purpose of his visit was to gift a new bicycle to Thampi's grandson Arjun. Thampi's eyes welled up with tears of joy when Santhosh gifted the bicycle to Arjun. The bicycle was purchased from a shop in Thopumpady. Thus, Santhosh Kumar fulfilled Thampi's wish to gift a new bicycle to his grandson.

Kerala Kaumudi had recently published a report about Thampi, a coconut tree climber, who used to take his grandson's cycle to carry the coconut tree climbing machine. While reading it, Santhosh remembered his struggles to purchase a new bicycle for his daughter who was studying in eighth grade then.

Santosh Kumar, a former employee of KSRTC, is currently conducting training classes for students in the higher education sector. He is the Vice-Chairman of the SNDP Yogam Chingoli region.
