THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State police chief Loknath Behera will retire from service on Wednesday. He was the DGP for five years in two phases. He had also served as the chief of Vigilance, Prisons and Fire Force. Behera is known for modernising the state police force by introducing modern technologies and weapons. Under his leadership, the police force's Facebook page gained 16 lakh followers.
Behera, who hails from Odisha, is a 1985 batch IPS officer. He has worked on deputation in CBI and NIA and has investigated several terrorism cases. Behera's farewell parade will be held at Peroorkada SAP ground at 8 am today.
