KOZHIKODE: Sarath Sunil (22), a third-year MBBS student of Kozhikode Govt Medical College and Vice President of the College Union, and a native of Mattancherry in Ernakulam was found dead on the roadside in the campus. Sarath is a type 1 diabetic who regularly takes insulin.
He was found lying on the roadside at around 3 pm yesterday afternoon near the Men's Hostel (Two). There was a small cut on his lower chin. His classmates rushed him to the emergency room, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sarath went to the college library as normal classes start on Thursday. The classmates who came later saw Sarath on the roadside.
He is the son of Mangattuparambu Sunilkumar from AK Road, Mattancherry, Paravanamukku. His mother is late Geeta. His only brother is Sharan, an employee of the Ernakulam Head Post Office.
His father Suni Kumar runs a small workshop at home. Sarath was the hope of this family. Sarath, who excelled in his studies and artistic activities, passed Plus Two from St. Sebastian's School, earning a Full A Plus. He joined Medicine with a rank of 1511 in All India Medical Entrance and 221 in Kerala Entrance.
Sarath returned to college on Monday after staying home following a lockdown.
