THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The accused in the violence against foreign women in Varkala has been arrested by the police. Mahesh, a native of Edava, was arrested by the Varkala police.

The sexual assault on foreign women took place at Varkala beach. Women from the UK and France were assaulted by a group of drunkards.

The incident took place last Monday. The assault against women from the UK and France was around 8 pm while they were walking on Papanasam Beach. The gang under the influence of alcohol attacked the young women. They were also allegedly threatened after displaying nudity. They insulted the girls and threatened them by hitting on the body.

The girls have been staying at a homestay in Varkala for the past four months. According to the girls, their friend from Mumbai had a similar experience.
