THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A detailed audit will be carried out at the Travancore Sugars and Chemicals, a state public sector organisation, in connection with the smuggling of spirit brought to the company. An audit conducted by Sajith, the internal auditor of the Beverages Corporation, will look into whether such scams have taken place in the past.
The Excise department oversees the transfer of spirit to the store after unloading it and the supply of spirit in fixed amounts for the production of alcohol. The store is also overseen by Excise. The high officials claimed that there is no possibility of smuggling if the load arrives inside the company. The audit team will also need to check whether there is any possibility for smuggling at any point in the process from ordering the spirit to using it.
