NEW DELHI: Amid speculations of a cabinet reshuffle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold talks with top party leaders this evening. The meeting to be held at the PM's residence at 5 pm will be attended by senior cabinet ministers and BJP president J P Nadda. Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Dharmendra Pradhan, Prahlad Joshi, Piyush Goyal and Narendra Singh Tomar are also expected to attend today's meeting.

Modi had a lengthy meeting with Amit Shah and BJP general secretary B L Santosh on Monday. National media had reported that an approximate understanding of the cabinet expansion was already taken at the meeting. As per reports from some centres, the swearing in of the new ministers is likely to take place on Friday. However, no official announcement has come so far.

The Prime Minister held several discussions with top leaders in connection with the cabinet expansion. The present cabinet having 53 members can accommodate up to 81 members. Sarbananda Sonowal, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sushil Modi are likely to join the union cabinet. Only Republican leader Ramdas Attawale is a member of the cabinet of NDA allies presently. It has to be seen whether more allies will be included in the cabinet this time.
