KOLLAM: A differently-abled petrol pump employee was brutally attacked by a goon in Kollam. Siddique, a native of Kottiyam, was assaulted by a man who came to refuel at a pump at Pallimukku. The incident took place at around 7.30 pm last Friday. It is learnt that the goon attacked Siddique for showing disrespect towards him.

According to sources, the man got provoked when Siddique refused to open the lid of the petrol tank of his vehicle using his hand. Following this, he threw the money at Siddique's chair. When Siddique questioned this, the man went to the manager of the pump and complained against Siddique. He then returned and asked Siddique for his phone number and address. When Siddique refused to give his details, he complained to the manager again and went back and attacked Siddique. Siddique said that he was beaten seven times.

Eravipuram police have intensified their search for the culprit after collecting CCTV footage of the petrol pump. While stating that the culprit has been identified, Siddique's friends said that they are hoping that the man would be arrested by the police on Tuesday itself. Police said that the attacker was an accused in two cases and had been absconding since the incident.
