KOLLAM: The new paintings of Lord Krishna, which came from Dubai, kept at Thazhava Sree Krishna temple have become the talk of the town. With the jewellery of Lord Krishna shining brightly due to the presence of precious metal, devotees are astonished to witness the paintings. All the ornaments in the picture are believed to be gold. There are also several precious stones. No inspections were done so far,

The oil paintings were dedicated to the temple by Thazhava native Mohankumar who had received them as a gift from Irani in Dubai. In the paintings, little Krishna can be seen stealing curd, Yashoda tying little Krishna to a stone-made vessel, and Krishna offering food to Balabhadra Swami. Krishna's ornaments and flute in these pictures are made of metal and embossed in the picture. Neither Irani nor Mohankumar noticed this. The paintings are believed to belong to a Gujarati businessman who once lived in Irani's house in Dubai. No information is available about him.

The pictures were kept in an empty room in a villa on Emirates Hill, where the wealthy stay in Dubai. The villa was bought by Irani from someone else five years ago. When Mohankumar went to Irani's house for aluminium fabrication work, the latter decided to gift the to Mohankumar after learning that he was a Hindu believer. Though Mohankumar was offered four oil paintings based on Hindu mythology, he selected only the paintings of Lord Krishna.

Upon returning to Kerala, Mohankumar showed the paintings to Sree Krishna Temple Advisory Committee's former President Anil Kumar. It was then decided to place it in the temple.
