THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A day after RTI documents stated that most of the information given in the biodata provided by Kerala Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Dr. R Chandrababu for the appointment was false, the selection committee which hastily appointed Chandra Babu has also come under suspicion. The selection committee had sent a letter to the Governor to appoint Dr. Chandrababu as the Vice-Chancellor. within two days of receiving the application. The decision was taken without properly examining the applications submitted by about 20 people.
The last date for receipt of applications for VC appointment was December 21, 2017. The selection committee examined the applications at 11 a.m. on the 23rd. Chief Secretary Dr.K.M. Dr. Abraham, ICAR Director General Trilochan Mohapatra, and Kerala Agricultural University General Council member Dr. K Raviraman were the members of the committee.
Dr. Chandra Babu had not submitted any credentials or attested copies of additional qualifications claimed in his biodata, including that he was a professor in a foreign university. The selection committee suggested Chandra Babu's name without confirming whether all this was true. On the evening of the recommendation, the Governor, who was also the Chancellor, made the appointment.
