KOZHIKODE: Police have taken the mother into custody in connection with the incident where a five-year-old girl was found dead. The incident took place at Chamundivalappu in Payyanakkal. Ayesha Reyhana, daughter of Nawaz and Sameera, was found dead. Sameera was taken into custody. The locals say she is mentally ill. The incident took place on Wednesday evening.

When the locals heard a loud noise from the house, they found the child lying unconscious. She was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead. According to locals, the boy had a scar around his neck. The information was then reported to the police. The couple has another 12-year-old child.

The family from Beypore had recently moved to Chamundivalappu for rent.
