KOCHI: The high court has stayed the government's order that the permission of the local bodies is sufficient for the construction of religious places. The single bench passed the order on a petition related to the construction of another religious places near St. Peter's and St. Paul's Church in Chalissery, Pattambi. The permission of the local bodies was made sufficient by amending the earlier order requiring the prior permission of the district administration for the construction of places of worship. The previous order was that the district administration should collect and check the confidential information and give permission for the construction of places of worship. The High Court is examining whether the local bodies can be tasked to take such a decision. The order was stayed till the conclusion of the petition stating that a decision should be taken after hearing the detailed arguments.
