PALAKKAD: Recent reports claimed that the accused in the Thrithala sexual abuse case has political connections. One of them is said to be the son of a prominent political leader in Pattambi. Even though the police had taken the group that molested the girl to custody, they were soon released without even registering a case. This shows that the investigation did not proceed further due to the high connections of the accused.

Meanwhile, the CPM has demanded the arrest of those involved in the drug party. It demanded that all culprits must be arrested irrespective of their political connections.

Abhilash, the accused in the Thrithala sexual abuse case, took the girl to a hotel in Pattambi on April 4. Four days later, Thrithala police took them into custody. The girl informed the police that nine people had attended the drug party within those four days. She told police that DJ Mustafa, Muneer, Sreejith, Pranoy, Zuhair, Amin and Akbar Sultan had come to the room for the party.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has started collecting information about the Pattambi-based drug gang. Some of the accused are also under surveillance. According to the police, further action will be taken once the evidence is collected.
