PAZHANI: Tamil Nadu has formed a special team to probe the Pazhani molestation case. Kerala DGP Anil Kant had written to Tamil Nadu DGP C Shailendra Babu asking him to form a special team to probe the incident and take action against the erring Pazhani police. Following this, a special team was formed under the leadership of Dindigul SP Ramanipriya.
Meanwhile, the lodge owner Muthu, who is an accused in the case, has come up with a counter-argument against the complainants. According to Muthu, the complainants had booked a room on the 19th claiming to be a mother and son. On the next day, the two had an altercation after drinking alcohol. Following this, they left the lodge separately.
Later, they returned on the 25th to take back their Aadhar cards. On July 6, the complainants called the lodge owner and demanded money by pretending to be police.
The lodge owner Muthu told media persons that the CCTV footage of the lodge was handed over to the police. Muthu said that when the couple returned, they were in dirty clothes and they were given money to buy food.
The woman's husband had lodged a complaint with the Pazhani police alleging that his wife had been abducted and raped by a gang while they went on a pilgrimage to Palani. According to the complaint, the lodge owner and his accomplices brutally tortured the woman and attacked her husband.
The Kannur police have collected the statement of the woman, who is undergoing treatment at Kannur Gov Medical College. It has handed over the information to the Tamil Nadu government for a detailed investigation.
Dindigul Range DIG B Vijayakumari said there was no evidence that the woman was brutally tortured in Pazhani. No evidence has been found of the abduction from CCTV footage of the lodge and its surroundings. The DIG said the examination at the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital did not show any serious injuries. No complaint was received at Pazhani Adivaram station before the controversy.
