THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Muslim League leader PK Kunhalikutty has reacted to the decision of the state government to revise the minority scholarship ratio. Kunhalikutty alleged that the government was trying to create divisions among the minorities and was only targeting political gain. The government could have appealed against the verdict. Kunhalikutty said the reaction would be severe if the government goes ahead with this approach.
"The government cancelled the benefits available to Muslims. Fixing a special scheme was the ideal criteria for minority communities. However, the government abolished the Sachar Commission report itself. Thus, the benefits that exist in other states have been removed from Kerala," Kunhalikutty said.
It was decided at today's cabinet meeting to revise the ratio of minority student scholarships. The new decision comes after the High Court quashed the 80:20 ratio.
