THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The weekend lockdown imposed in the state is likely to be lifted. Indications are that further restrictions will be after division of micro-containment sector. A final decision will be taken at the review meeting chaired by the chief minister this evening.

There were criticisms from various quarters in continuing the weekend lockdown. It was criticised saying that it would lead to increase rush on Fridays and Mondays. A decision will be taken today on how should be the lockdown restrictions in the wake of a rise in test positivity rates. The review meeting is at 3.30 pm this evening.

The time for opening of shops was extended in view of Bakrid. The meeting to be convened today will assess the situation after July 22. The curbs eased as part of Bakrid will end today.
