THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The spread of Covid-19 is on the rise again in the state at a time when relieved that the second wave of the disease has decreased. The situation is even more alarming with 12.38% transmission of the disease was reported yesterday. 1,03,543 samples were tested.

Test positivity rate crosses 12 in the state after seven days. Health experts warn that the situation could worsen in the coming days. This is not the third wave and the misconception that the second wave had subsided, the crowd and the apathy in preventive activities are the problems estimated. In the context of the spread of the disease to be carried out today including group testing, there will be more cases in the coming days. There has been an increase in the number of cases in all the districts where the spread of the disease was low. In northern districts, closed wards reopened as the number of patients declined. In Thrissur, Kozhikode, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Palakkad the number of patients is above thousand.

Presently 1,28,881 are under treatment and 4,09,323 under observation. Health experts say the spread can be prevented by if the tests are arranged according to the contact list of the patients. The second wave started in the state after April 5.
