THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 19,948 COVID-19 cases on Friday. Among these, 18,744 persons developed the disease through contact, including 996 cases without an identified source of infection. 97 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 81 health workers contracted the disease on Friday.

19,480 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 1,78,204 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 187 deaths due to the virus on Friday with the toll rising to 17,515.

Malappuram 3417, Ernakulam 2310, Thrissur 2167, Kozhikode 2135, Palakkad 2031, Kollam 1301, Alappuzha 1167, Thiruvananthapuram 1070, Kannur 993, Kottayam 963, Kasargod 738, Pathanamthitta 675, Wayanad 548, Idukki 433.

1,51,892 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 13.13.
