NEW DELHI: The party central committee meet decided to convene CPM's next party congress in Kerala. The central committee convened in New Delhi today selected Kannur as the venue.
The party congress was earlier convened at Kozhikode in 2012. When the party congress reaches Kerala after nine long years, there is a challenge posed by Covid. Meantime, CPM politburo member Prakash Karat said the meet would be held as usual. If the spread of the disease intensifies, virtual meets are likely to held in the respective places. A decision will be taken at the right time.
Talks on party’s loss in Bengal elections were discussed. Some central committee members said the alliance with the Congress was not appropriate. It was directed that things on what needs to be done to return to the mainstream should be discussed. The central committee approved matters including generational change in the party in Kerala.
Preparations to face Tripura elections to be held in 2023 were discussed. Election results in Bengal and Kerala were also analysed in detail.
