THRISSUR: The remand report filed by the Crime Branch stated that TR Sunil Kumar, first accused and former secretary of the Karuvannur Co-operative Bank, had embezzled money for 21 years and was the mastermind behind the scam. The remand report submitted to the Iringalakuda Magistrate's Court by the probe team stated that he had swindled Rs 100 crore through forged documents and software.
Another accused Kiran was given a loan of Rs 23 crore even though he was not a member of the bank.
Sunil Kumar was produced in court online. He has been remanded until the 24th of this month. His bail application will be considered by the court on Wednesday. With the Thrissur District Sessions Court rejecting the anticipatory bail pleas of Biju Kareem, Giles, and Reji Anil, the accused are likely to get arrested soon. The court observed that huge irregularities had taken place. The bail application of the fourth accused Kiran will be considered on August 13.

People close to the accused were given membership without the knowledge of the governing body and the signature of the president. 28 loans worth Rs 50 lakh were made through fake accounts. There are 46 loans in the name of the fourth accused Kiran. Kiran alone has a liability of Rs 33.29 crore. Kiran took a loan of Rs 22.85 crore by forging documents and raising property prices. The money was transferred to the accounts of Kiran and his wife Anushka Menon. Sunil Kumar, along with other accused, committed a massive scam. Major irregularities were found in the sale of Rubco products as well.

While the High Court rejected the anticipatory bail application of first accused Sunil Kumar, the Thrissur Sessions Court rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of other accused Biju Kareem, Giles and Reji M Anil. Meanwhile, the probe team received information that fourth accused Kiran was spotted in Andhra. Following this, a search has been intensified in Andhra.
