THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George said that 8,86,960 doses of vaccine have been provided to the state. 8 lakh doses of Covishield vaccine and 86,960 doses of Covaxin vaccine have reached the state. Thiruvananthapuram received 1,69,500, Ernakulam received 1,96,500 and Kozhikode received 1,34,000 doses of Covishield vaccine. Also, Thiruvananthapuram got 29,440, Ernakulam 34,240 and Kozhikode 23,280 doses of Covaxin. In addition to this, 3 lakh doses of Covishield doses reached Ernakulam. In some centers, the vaccine is available overnight.

The Minister said that with the arrival of the vaccine in the state, the vaccination drive is gaining strength. The aim is to give the first dose of the vaccine before August 15 to all those over 60 years of age and all bedridden patients over 18 years of age. Today alone, the first dose has been given to more than 1.5 lakh people over the age of 60. Of these, a total of 2,37,528 people were vaccinated today.

There were 1271 vaccination centers, including 949 government centers and 322 private centers. So far, 2,24,29,007 people in the state have been vaccinated, the minister said in a press release.

1,59,68,802 were given the first dose and 64,60,205 were given the second dose. In Kerala, 45.5 percent were given the first dose and 18.41 percent were given the second dose. According to the minister, 55.64 percent of the population above 18 years of age has been given the first dose and 22.51 percent the second dose.
