THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala witnessed record vaccination on Friday with 5,35,074 people receiving the vaccine. Of these, 4,64,849 were given the first dose and 70,225 were given the second dose. The previous highest daily vaccination was 5.15 lakh. With the shortage of vaccines being solved, the authorities were able to vaccinate more people at the same time. Meanwhile, minister Veena George said more vaccines were needed for the vaccination campaign.
The state received 4,02,400 doses of vaccine on Friday. This includes 3,02,400 doses of Covishield and 1 lakh doses of Covaxin.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said that all those non-Covid individuals in the containment zones will be vaccinated. The announcement was made by the Chief Minister at the Covid review meeting held today.
Everyone in the containment zones will be subjected to Covid tests. All those who test negative for the virus will be vaccinated with preference. The Chief Minister directed that intensive work should be done in all the districts to expedite the implementation of the vaccination campaign.
