NEDUMANGAD: An elderly man committed suicide after murdering a woman who created a ruckus by claiming to be his daughter. Karakulam native Saritha (42), daughter of Leela, was beaten to death by Vijayamohanan Nair (64) on Thursday evening. Vijayamohan Nair later committed suicide by setting himself ablaze.

Saritha, a nurse at a private hospital in Delhi, used to go to Vijayamohan's house and create trouble by claiming that she was his daughter. Vijayamohanan had lodged several complaints with the Nedumangad police in this regard.

Saritha made a fuss in front of Vijayamohan's house at 5 pm on Thursday. Following this, he hit her on the head with the handle of a spade. Though Saritha was rushed to the hospital, she could not be saved. Later, Viajayamohan Nair went to his brother's house in Vattappara and set himself ablaze. Nedumangad police have registered a case and started an investigation.
