THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For the second day in a row, more than five lakh people have been vaccinated against Covid in the state, Minister Veena George said. Today, 5,08,849 people were vaccinated as part of the vaccination drive. Of these, 4,39,860 were given the first dose and 68,989 were given the second dose. More than half a lakh people were vaccinated in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts.

The vaccine was given to 5.60 lakh people last day. The first dose of vaccination for people over 60 years of age is in progress. The minister requested that if anyone still needs to be vaccinated in this category, they should contact the nearest health workers as soon as possible.

At the same time, the state has received 2,91,080 doses of the Covishield vaccine today. Thiruvananthapuram received 98,560 doses, Ernakulam got 1,14,590 doses and Kozhikode got 77,930 doses of vaccine. There were 1837 vaccination centers, including 1,478 government centers and 359 private centers. So far, a total of 2,39,22,426 people in the state have been vaccinated with one or two doses. Of these, 1,72,66,344 were given the first dose and 66,56,082 were given the second dose. According to the estimated population of Kerala in 2021, 48.7 per cent were vaccinated with first dose and 18.79 per cent were vaccinated with second dose. According to the population above 18 years, 60.07 per cent were given the first dose and 23.18 per cent the second dose.
