THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The national flag was hoisted at the AKG Centre, the CPM state committee office, on the 75th Independence Day. The flag was hoisted by CPM state secretary A Vijayaraghavan. He said the celebrations would not end with the hoisting of the flag and that a year-long programme would be organized.

Vijayaraghavan replied to KPCC president K Sudhakaran, who criticized CPM's Independence Day celebrations. He said the national flag was hoisted in front of the state office on August 15, 1947 and Sudhakaran is criticizing the Communists for not knowing the history of the freedom struggle.

M V Jayarajan hoisted the flag in front of CPM Kannur district committee office. Widespread programmes are being conducted in the state in compliance with the Covid norms.
