THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The High Command will announce the new presidents of the fourteen District Congress Committees in the state within two days. Out of these, the list containing only one name for each of the 12 districts was handed over to the High Command by KPCC President K Sudhakaran and Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan and three working presidents returned.
State leadership has claimed that they went to Delhi with a feasibility study after consulting with various leaders in the state. It is learnt that the AICC general secretary in-charge of Kerala Tariq Anwar may try to console Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala after the two complained that they were neglected. However, the list submitted by the state leadership is unlikely to change. There are indications that the announcement of the list has been postponed for two days to appease the leaders.
It must be noted that former KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran lashed out at K Sudhakaran when the latter contacted him over the phone before handing over the list to the High Command in Delhi. Senior leader VM Sudheeran also posted on Facebook that no responsible person had spoken to him before compiling the list of possible DCC presidents. He also alleged that many former KPCC presidents, including himself, were excluded from the leadership meeting held before the Political Affairs Committee meeting. With this, yesterday afternoon, K. Sudhakaran visited Sudheeran at home. It is learned that Sudhakaran has assured that the party leadership will go ahead with consultation and trust with everyone.
