NEW DELHI: Two Malayalee women arrested by the NIA from Kannur in connection with ISIS links have been remanded in NIA custody for seven days. Both were produced before an NIA court in Delhi yesterday. Shifa Harris and Misha Siddique, both from Kannur, were arrested for spreading propaganda on social media on behalf of the ISIS. The NIA says they have close ties to ISIS and have clear evidence of this.

On March 15, the NIA raided 10 centres in Kannur, Bangalore and Delhi. This was based on some information obtained from Muhammad Amin, also known as Abu Yaha, a native of Malappuram who had been arrested earlier. In March, Shifa Harris and Misha Siddique were taken to the Kochi office for questioning and released. However, they were still under surveillance. The two were arrested after clear evidence was obtained.
