KANNUR: CPM politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that his visit to Kannur was to start preparations for the CPM party congress. Kodiyeri said that there was no problem in the CPM district unit.

Kodiyeri said that senior party leader M Surendran did not give any letter and that he did not notice the issue between P Jayarajan and Sahadevan. He added that there have always been campaigns against the party.

Kodiyeri alleged that some are trying to create a smokescreen by spreading the news about the Dharmadam connection in the tree felling case. He also said that the party would not protect anyone involved in the gold smuggling case if it comes to notice that they were involved in the crime.
