THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former BJP state president P.K. Krishnadas said that CPM state secretary Vijayaraghavan's statement that the Malabar riots were a struggle against the imperialist forces was to please and appease the Taliban organizations in Kerala. He alleged that the statement was made as a token of gratitude towards SDPI and Jamaat-e-Islami for helping LDF retain power for the second straight term.
"Those who did not have anything to do with the freedom struggle should be avoided from the list of martyrs. The state government should accept the decision of the ICHR and abandon the move to build a memorial to Variyamkunnath Kunjahammed Haji. None of the Malabar rebels were freedom fighters. Speaker MB Rajesh should apologize to the people of India for comparing the brave Bhagat Singh to the rebels. Would you be willing to compare Ajmal Kasab, Afzal Guru and Yakub Memon to Bhagat Singh tomorrow?" Krishnadas said. He added that MB Rajesh, speaker of the Kerala Assembly, should maintain the dignity of his position.
