THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Opposition has sharply criticized the state government in the wake of the increase in Covid cases in Kerala. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor MP said that Kerala is currently in ICU. "Most of the Covid cases in the country are from Kerala. Despite the strength of the second wave in the country is going down", the number of cases is not decreasing in Kerala alone, Tharoor said.

He was speaking at a roadside ICU protest by the Youth Congress in front of Secretariat against denial of free follow-up treatment for Covid and the flaws in Covid defense. Tharoor said that Kerala is in the ICU and it was a symbolic protest to show the state of affairs. He said the situation in the state is serious and everyone should stand together.

At the same time, the spread of Covid in Kerala continues unabated. The state confirmed 30,007 cases of Covid-19 on Thursday. The test positivity rate is 18.03.

During the last 24 hours, 1,66,397 samples were tested in the state. 162 deaths were also confirmed which brings the total death toll to 20,134.
