KANNUR: The state human rights commission has registered a case and ordered an inquiry into the incident where a student fell and injured himself while climbing a tall tree with a mobile phone to get the network. Judicial member of the commission K Baiju Nath asked the Kannur district collector to submit a report within 15 days of the inquiry.
Ananth Babu is undergoing treatment for a spinal cord injury at Panyodu Adivasi Colony in Chittariparambu Kannavam forest area. Ananth Babu climbed the tree at 12.30 pm yesterday to know the details of the Plus One application. Meanwhile, the twig was broke and he fell down. Ananth was rushed to Koothuparamba Taluk Hospital and later to Kannur District Hospital. He underwent surgery for head, leg and back injuries.
There are widespread complaints that mobile coverage is not available in the area. Children attend online classes sitting on trees or on balconies.
