MYSURU: The Karnataka police have launched a search for three Malayalee students in connection with the Mysuru gang rape case. The investigation is currently focused on the students as it was found that they went missing after the incident.
The information about the accused was obtained during the investigation focusing on the tower location. Police investigated about 20 SIM cards that were present in the tower location at the time. Later, it was found that four of those numbers were not active on the next day. The four SIM cards belonged to students of Mysore University. Three of them are Malayalees and one is from Tamil Nadu.
With the investigation focusing on the students, the police learnt that the students had not appeared for the university exam that took place the next day. Police also found that the students had left their hostel. A special team of Mysuru Police has been deployed to Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The IG said the police had received information about the accused and could not divulge more details at the moment. There are indications that the arrest of the accused may take place soon
