THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A tapping worker and his eight-year-old daughter were subjected to great psychological harassment by the Pink Police over a theft that did not take place. The incident took place at Thonnakkal in Thiruvananthapuram when Jayachandran, a tapping worker, and his daughter came to see a special vehicle of ISRO on the national highway.
While the father and daughter were watching the vehicle go by, they were called by the Pink Police who were on the spot. Police then told locals that Jayachandran and his daughter had stolen the mobile phone of one of the police officers. Although Jayachandran denied the accusation, the police continued to mentally harass him. Jayachandran also said that the police had alleged that the father and daughter were involved in another robbery that took place recently.
Eventually, the mobile phone was found inside the police vehicle. Following this, the police left the spot without even bothering to apologize to Jayachandran.
Jayachandran is preparing to lodge a complaint with the DGP against this serious misconduct on the part of the police. KV Manoj Kumar, chairman of the Child Rights Commission, said he would take immediate action and seek an explanation from the police.
