PALAKKAD: Protests in Congress following the DCC reorganisation are likely to escalate. According to reports, AV Gopinath, who did not get the post of Palakkad DCC president, might leave the party. He has called for a press conference on Monday morning. All the 11 panchayat members in the Congress-ruled Peringottukurissi might also leave the party along with Gopinath. They have announced their support for Gopinath.

A Thankappan has been elected DCC president. Gopinath called the press conference after meeting Peringottukurissi panchayat members and other leaders who support him.

Meanwhile, the CPM has intensified moves to bring Gopinath into the party if he leaves the Congress. CPM leader and former minister AK Balan had hinted at this through his Facebook post.
