THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George has announced that the ongoing vaccination drive for teachers will be completed by September 5, Teachers' Day. The minister also requested the remaining teachers and other school staff to contact the nearest health workers to get the vaccine.

Today, 4,78,635 people were vaccinated as part of the vaccination drive. There were 1832 vaccination centers, including 1,459 government centers and 373 private centers. A total of 2,86,31,227 people were vaccinated, including one and two doses. Of these, 2,09,75,647 were given the first dose and 76,55,580 were given the second dose. According to the projected population of 2021, 59.20 per cent were given the first dose and 21.61 per cent the second dose. According to the population above 18 years, 73.02 per cent were given the first dose and 26.66 per cent the second dose.

The state also received 8,00,860 more doses of vaccine. Of these, 5,09,640 doses of the vaccine arrived on Sunday and 2,91,220 doses on Monday. Thiruvananthapuram got 2,72,000 doses, while Ernakulam received 3,14,360 doses and Kozhikode 2,14,500 doses. In addition, 15 lakh AD syringe was also made available, the minister said in a press release.
