THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the RSP announcing its plans to take drastic steps such as boycotting UDF meet, the UDF leadership has intervened to reconcile the party. M.M. Hassan, who is also the UDF Convenor got in touch with the warring Congress leaders and have informed the RSP leaders that they are ready to talk. Following this, it was decided that the bilateral talks with the RSP will be held on September 6 at 11 am. The UDF leadership meeting will be held at 2.30 pm that day.

The UDF leadership intervened as it realised that tension within the front will further weaken the UDF which is yet to recover from the shocking defeat in the 2021 Assembly elections. Kerala Kaumudi had reported yesterday that the RSP would boycott the meeting if the issues raised by the party were not resolved through discussion.

UDF convener MM Hassan called RSP state secretary AA Aziz, NK Premachandran MP, and Shibu Baby John over the phone yesterday and informed them about the talks. The time was fixed in consultation with the Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan and KPCC President K Sudhakaran.
