LUCKNOW: 53 people have died of fever at Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh. 45 of them were children. The deaths happened over the past 10 days. A dengue outbreak is suspected. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a probe on the incident.
Firozabad BJP MLA Manish Asija said the situation is being closely monitored. BJP sources said camps have been set up in 25 troubled areas to provide proper care to the patients.
More than 180 people have been admitted to the medical college in Firozabad. Most of them have viral fever and some have been diagnosed with dengue, hospital officials said.
Yogi Adityanath arrived in Firozabad and met the patients undergoing treatment in the hospital. He also visited the relatives of the dead. Adityanath said a team from King George Medical University in Lucknow would investigate the spread of the disease.
