THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Scheduled Castes Commission has intervened in the incident where a Pink Police officer conducted a public interrogation alleging theft of a mobile phone in Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram. Jayachandran, who was interrogated by the officer, had lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission and the Scheduled Castes Commission seeking an inquiry into the incident. The commission has asked the DGP to investigate and submit a report within ten days.

A eight - year - old and her father were interrogated by Pink Police officer Rajitha last Friday. The father and daughter were questioned for allegedly stealing her mobile phone. Rajitha questioned them alleging that the father had given the phone to the daughter after taking the mobile and the daughter had thrown it in the bushes. When Rajitha's colleague finally checked her car, she found the phone in Rajitha's bag.

The Attingal DYSP, who investigated the incident, reported that Rajitha had not behaved in an abusive manner and based on this, the action against Rajitha was reduced to good conduct training. Subsequently, Jayachandran lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission and the Scheduled Castes Commission.
