THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: PC George said that it is foolish to say that the Congress in Kerala cannot move forward without Oommen Chandy. In an interview to an online media, PC George added that Ramesh Chennithala is not a small leader.
"If Oommen Chandy leaves, nothing will happen to the Congress. Not only Oommen Chandy, the Congress can go ahead without anyone. Others needed to be given a chance. There is no dignity in wanting Oommen Chandy to be the Chief Minister again", George opined.
"Ramesh Chennithala was the All India President of the Congress. He is not just a leader. Chennithala got a ministerial post because of Karunakaran. Today, Ramesh Chennithala is a leader who deserves a prominent place in the Congress in Kerala. With the arrival of the new KPCC president and Leader of the Opposition, the A and I groups in Congress are facing a major crisis. That is why Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala stand together. Senior leaders are concerned about whether they will be ignored", PC George said.
"It is not wrong to say that the Congress takes the stand of KPCC President K Sudhakaran. It does not seem that anyone in the Congress is opposed to Sudhakaran. If there is any opposition, it will be with VD Satheesan. Ramesh Chennithala was also noticed when he was the Leader of the Opposition. However, the Congress had not been able to take up the issues raised by Chennithala", George added.
"When a bandit like Pinarayi Vijayan has come down to conquer Kerala, think about the situation of the Congress if they're fighting with each other. The conflict in the Congress is as severe as it was in 1965, when the Kerala Congress was formed. Today, the Kerala Congress has been torn to pieces. The United Democratic Front would be irrelevant if the Congress is disbanded", George said.
