THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police Monday arrested the main accused in connection with the incident of brutally assaulting a woman in Poonthura. The arrested has been identified as Sudheer of Manacaud. He was arrested from Poonthura this morning. His brother Naushad is absconding. The police have intensified a search for him. It was Sudheeer who assaulted the woman the most. The footages of it have surfaced.

Aamina, an engineering student was brutally assaulted last evening. She was attacked after her tenants made some noise.

Her tenants and neighbours Sudheer and Naushad first involved in a verbal dispute. Aamina came there to enquire about the incident.

When she was enquiring things, the accused who were standing on the road pushed open the gate, entered inside and beat her severely. The locals and those standing there somehow pushed them to one side. Her relatives said Aamina and her mother received threats from these two.
