THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A recent report has claimed that the decision to reopen schools in the state from November 1 was taken without the knowledge of the education department. The report stated that neither the education department nor the General Education Director had known anything about the reopening of schools, including the date of reopening, until the CM's press release surfaced.
Neither the Education Minister nor the top officials of the department were invited to the Covid review meeting. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan discussed the issue only with the health department.
The issue of school opening was not discussed even when the meeting related to the conduct of the Plus One examination was convened in the morning.
