MANJERI: The Crime Branch has stated that it prima facie appeared that Nilambur MLA PV Anwar had committed fraud in the case of swindling Rs 50 lakhs from an NRI engineer by offering a partnership in crusher business in Karnataka. This was stated in the report submitted by Malappuram Crime Branch DySP P Vikraman. According to the report, Anwar had obtained Rs 50 lakh from Naduthody native Saleem by claiming that he owned the crusher and 26 acres. He also offered Saleem a 10 percent share and a Rs 50,000 profit margin per month.

On September 15th, the DySP had recorded a statement from K Ibrahim, a Kasargod native who had sold the crusher from Thannirupantha to PV Anwar. According to Ibrahim, the crusher was on two acres of land leased from the government and only the lease agreement was handed over to Anwar.
