KOCHI: A woman has been arrested in connection with the smuggling of drugs in Kakkanad. The excise crime branch arrested Susmitha Philip hailing from Pandikudi in Kochi. She is known as ‘Teacher’ amongst the drug trafficking gangs. She was summoned to the Kochi office, questioned and arrested after knowing her close links with the accused held with more than one kilogram of MDMA. She was already under excise surveillance related to drug dealings.

It was Sushmita who came to release the accused arrested in the Kakkanad case on bail and to take over the dogs used for drug trafficking. With this, the suspicion grew stronger. Excise officials said she is the main link in the drug trade in Kochi. The excise officials said they have received clear evidence of her close links with the accused in the drug trafficking case.
