THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Water Authority has defrauded many consumers by giving huge bills via SMS for unused water. Upon seeing the news published by Kerala Kaumudi yesterday, several people revealed that they too received high bills from the water authority.

One of the consumers who came up with such a complaint is Pettah native Sreeja who lives with her husband and two children. Earlier, the family used to pay a bill of Rs 364. However, Sreeja and her husband were shocked when they received an SMS that stated that they have to pay a bill of Rs 3,256. Although she lodged a complaint with Pettah AE, there was no solution.

Another consumer, who used to pay a bill of Rs 293, got a bill of Rs 40,915 this time. Some consumers even received a bill of fifty thousand and above. Many others too received similar bills which were many times more than consumption.
