NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has issued guidelines to the committee investigating the Pegasus row. The panel, headed by former Justice R V Raveendran, will focus on six main issues. In addition, the committee has the freedom to investigate issues important for them.
Professor D Prabhakaran, a Malayalee, is a member of the three-member expert team to assist the committee. Prabhakaran is a professor at the Amrita University in Kollam. In addition to him, Professor Naveen Kumar Choudhary of National Forensic University and Dr Ashwin Anil Gumaste of Bombay IIT are the other members of the team.
Issues to be investigated by the panel
1) whether phone used by Pegasus was leaked
2) whose phones were leaked
3) What action did the Centre take in 2019 when allegations of leakage surfaced?
4) Whether Pegasus was bought by central or state governments or agencies
5) If Pegasus has been used on which guidelines
6) If Pegasus has been used by individuals or institutions, is it legal
7) Other issues relevant to the committee
The apex court has asked the central government to co-operate with the committee.
