THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Rajan has said that the low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal is likely to pass close to the Kerala coast. The current trajectory is similar to that of Cyclone Burevi. The minister said there is a possibility of thundershowers till November 1 and a cyclone has formed in the Arabian Sea. He said there were indications that more heavy rains are expected.

Despite the orange alert tomorrow, collectors have been instructed to be extra vigilant. 12 National Disaster Management teams are ready. The Minister said that all preparations have been directed. The minister said that extreme vigilance is being taken in Mullaperiyar. Announcements will be given at 6 pm. There is no need to panic. The minister said that there should be no laziness and strong vigilance should be exercised.

Meanwhile, heavy rains caused a landslide in Erumeli Angel Valley. Nearby houses and establishments were flooded. An autorickshaw was reported to have been swept away by flash floods. Landslides have been reported at three places in Angel Valley forest. The damage occurred at Angel Valley Junction, Pallipadi and Valayath Padi in Angel Valley panchayat. Nearby institutions and houses were flooded.

Heavy rains continue in the hilly region of Kottayam. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains today. An orange alert has been issued in the district tomorrow in view of heavy rains.
