KOCHI: Palakkad native Faseela, who rides a bike on an off-road track, is not just a racing national star. A trainer at a fitness center that teaches zumba and yoga, Faseela is also a holder of a diploma in Financial Accounting and Hardware and Network engineering. She also runs a racing bike workshop.
Born in Palakkad, Fazeela grew up in a relative's house in Kozhikode from the age of ten. She learned to ride a bike when she was twenty. At the age of 22, she got a job in an IT company in Kochi. She then got married. She gave up her IT job after giving birth to her child. Later, Faseela learnt lessons of bike racing from bike stunters at the instigation of his friend Reshma.
In 2016, Faseela won the 200cc bike competition held in Paravoor. Soon, she became a star and went on to prizes in several state and national competitions. Faseela has participated in several major off-road races in Baroda, Indore, Pune, Nashik, Coimbatore and Mangalore. She is the first woman in Kerala to get an off-road license from the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India
(FMSCI).
Vishnu Vinayan, a friend and race bike tuner, is her head coach. The two are also running a racing bike workshop in Udayamperoor. Fazeela, who studied yoga and fitness training, is currently a trainer at the Fitness Center in Tripunithura. She lives with her mother and daughter in a rented house.
In 2019, she suffered knee and shoulder injuries after she fell during a practice session. When she started practising again, the country was hit by Covid. This created an interval of one and a half years. Faseela is now waiting for her next race with the Hero Impulse bike.
