IDUKKI: The water level in the Mullaperiyar dam has not dropped significantly even after opening the third shutter. The water level is still at 138 feet. The shutter number 5 was opened last night. At present, shutter numbers 3,4,5 of the dam are open. Water is currently being discharged from the dam at the rate of 825 cubic feet per second. The water level in the Periyar also rose by one and a half feet. Revenue Minister K Rajan is assessing the situation.

Shutter numbers 3 and 4 were raised by 35 cm yesterday morning to release 534 cubic feet. The Mullaperiyar dam was opened for the first time after the 2018 floods. The amount of water being released to the Idukki dam has been increased.

Meanwhile, the red alert issued at the Idukki dam was withdrawn after the water level in the dam dropped below 2398.3 ft.
