IDUKKI: The water level in the Mullaperiyar dam has dropped to 138.85 feet. The water level was 138.95 feet yesterday. Out of the total 13 shutters, Tamil Nadu has not been able to adjust the water level of the dam to the existing rule curve even though six shutters have been opened and the water released.

Tamil Nadu is likely to release more water to regulate the water level. Currently, 2974 cubic feet (84,214 litres) of water is flowing out every second. Shutters 2, 3 and 4 were raised 70 cm and shutters 1, 5 and 6 were raised 50 cm.

Meantime, Ministers Roshy Augustine and P Prasad will visit Mullaperiyar today to assess the present situation. Roshy Augustine said that even if more water is released, the district has made the necessary arrangements.
